Meet Granny
Jill McGuire, the creator of Granny Gertie received a BFA in Theatre from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She received post-graduate training at Gregory Abels Training Ensemble, a Classical Actor Training Conservatory in New York City. Jill taught Talented Theatre at Tchefuncte Middle School. She now serves as an Evaluator for the St. Tammany Parish Talented Theater Program. After Hurricane Katrina, a lot of the theaters closed temporarily. Creating Granny Gertie provided a theatrical outlet. Past performances include Slidell Head Start, Robert Head Start, St. Helena Parish Head Start, Bogalusa Head Start, Folsom Head Start, Woodlake Elementary School, Christ Episcopal School, Cedarwood School, St. Peters School, Mary Queen of Peace School and the library at Belle Chase Naval Air station, and Read For the Record.
Granny Gertie is always a hit. She is pure fun, involves the children, and gives a wonderful message.

Granny came to visit my second grade group of 90 kids for the 100th day of school and WOW! They loved her!!! She was engaging, hysterically funny, and held their attention. They begged for her to come back and many mentioned "Granny's Visit" among their top five best memories of second grade. The teachers enjoyed her visit as much as the kids. I would absolutely recommend having Granny to your event!

Jill is a high energy fun entertainer with a BIG heart! For the last several years Jill and I have worked as volunteers together on projects that minister to the elderly in nursing home settings and to local children who need hope. I am very grateful to be part of her heart in helping others have fun while also meeting practical needs in our community! She brings sunshine ☀ to everyone she meets!
